LAHORE: The Crime Control Department (CCD) claimed on Monday to have recovered a married woman abducted nine years ago from Lodhran district.
The woman was abducted by unknown suspects some nine years ago from the Dunyapur area and a case was also registered.
However, the police failed to recover the woman for the last nine years. The CCD police officials released a statement claiming that the police conducted an operation and recovered the woman in the Mandi Yazman area.
The police also arrested four men identified as Arif, Nihal Bakhsh, Shah Muhammad and Fida Hussain allegedly involved in the kidnapping.
The statement added that a case was registered against them and the suspects were wanted by the Saddar Dunyapur police. The spokesperson said the suspects were arrested after efforts of the IT and the Dunyapur Circle police teams. The suspects were included in the list of top 100 declared fugitives.
The Lodhran CCD spokesperson told Dawn that the woman was a close relative of the suspects. One of them wanted to contract marriage with her but the family refused his proposal and the woman was married to another person.
He said the suspects kidnapped her after her marriage and were declared proclaimed offenders. The district police continued to search the woman but could not find her.
He said the newly formed CCD took up the matter and recovered the woman.
