QUETTA / KHUZDAR: Five people, including a woman, were killed and two others injured in separate incidents of violence and a road accident in Balochistan on Friday.

In Kalat district, two people were killed and two others injured when a pickup truck veered off the road and fell into a ditch, Levies officials said. The accident occurred in the Khand area of Tehsil Gazg.

The pickup was en route to Gazg from Kalat when “the driver lost his control over the vehicle due to overspeeding”, Levies said. “The pickup after overturning fell into a roadside ditch, killing two persons on the spot”.

The deceased were identified as Amir Bakhsh Jatoi and Mubashir Ahmed Jatoi. “The bodies and the injured were immediately taken to district hospital Kalat,” Levies added.

Elsewhere in Kalat, unknown armed men shot dead two people, including a woman, in the Killi Mulki area, according to Levies. The assailants escaped after the firing.

Levies reported that the man and woman “received multiple bullet injuries and succumbed to their wounds on the spot”. The man was identified as Lal Mohammad. Their bodies were shifted to District Hospital Kalat.

Meanwhile, in Kharan town, a man was fatally shot by unidentified armed assailants, police said. The incident took place in the Vegetable Market area where the deceased, identified as Lal Das, was selling balloons.

Armed men on motorcycles opened fire, “resulting in killing on the spot”, police said. Lal Das, who belonged to Jaffarabad district, had been selling balloons in Kharan for a long time.

Police rushed to the site and moved the body to a hospital in Kharan. They termed the incident a “target killing” and said that further investigation was in progress.

No group has claimed responsibility for any of the killings.
